Merry Christmas

2020 has been lots of things. For us at Takiwatanga, it has been our first full year operating as a charity and all of our trustees, staff and volunteers have loved getting to know many wonderful children and their families. Thank you to everyone that has supported us with words and deeds of support. We have been bowled over by the amazing support from the community – the donations of money, time, equipment and clothes for our clothing collection which have enabled us to continue to provide services. The positive words and encouragement have lifted our spirits when that has been needed too, thank you. It has been a real privilege to be able to share with you some of the successes and small steps on your journeys, thank you. However, it has also been hard to hear of the difficult things that many of you have had to deal with, often without the usual professional and personal support there to help, at a time when it is needed more than ever. The resilience of many families over the last few months has been astounding, we hope that you can take strength from recognising how well you have done just to get through it, but remember – never be afraid to ask for help if you need it. As parents ourselves, we know that Christmas is an especially hard time for many, and that this year there are of course many additional challenges. We will be closing from 21st December to 3rd Jan but lots of services will remain open. You can access a really useful directory of organisations offering help over the Christmas period here –…/ If you are considering making a donation to charity this Christmas, perhaps in lieu of Christmas cards, please consider us . You can also nominate us to benefit from your online shopping purchases through Easy Fundraising, or nominate us as your chosen local charity with the Co-Op. As a small local charity, every penny we receive really does help us to do more. You can keep up to date with what we are doing on Facebook, or via our website. No doubt 2021 will bring new challenges, as we hopefully start to head back to school, work, routines and a new normal, but we look forward to seeing you, hopefully face to face before too long! Stay well and best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year – from the Takiwatanga Team
