Help raise much needed funds for MyOTAS by purchasing a lottery ticket, via Essex Lottery. It’s only £1 a week, you can win £25,000 and 60% of the funds go to good causes.
By volunteering to help MyOTAS you will have many different opportunities to help us. We welcome volunteers from all sections of the community, regardless of age, race or ability. We would especially like to hear from autistic young adults, who may like to volunteer as a means of gaining life skills and work experience.
Your involvement will be of great value to us, whether it’s a couple of hours, an odd day, or agreeing to cover the same activity each week. MyOTAS is committed to recognising the contribution of our volunteers and we provide appropriate support and training, which will be beneficial to your volunteering experience and look good on your CV! In addition to that, you will meet some wonderful, inspirational people and have lots of fun too! Please complete the form below to request further information about volunteering with MyOTAS.
These are the types of events/activities that we currently need volunteers to help with:
We hold monthly Parent Support Groups, where parents can come for a general chat, or book a 1:1 appointment with one of our knowledgeable volunteers to have an in depth discussion about issues they are having, EHCP applications, One Plans’, Annual Reviews or other challenges. We require volunteers to help run the group sessions by lending a sympathetic, non-judgemental ear and keeping the tea/coffee flowing.
Volunteers with some prior knowledge of child care are needed to support activity leaders during our activity sessions, such as Woodland Warriors, Lego Workshops and Yoga classes. All volunteers working with children must undertake an enhanced DBS check and undergo safeguarding training, which we will arrange for you.
MyOTAS is committed to campaigning on behalf of neurodivergent children and to raising awareness about their struggles with anxiety and sensory issues. Volunteers can contribute by engaging in social media campaigns, signing in attendees at a workshop, manning information stalls at local community events and handing out leaflets.
Fundraising is extremely important to MyOTAS as without it, we wouldn’t be able to help so many parents, children and young people. Volunteering to fundraise for us helps you understand the important work MyOTAS does and you get to play a key role in supporting and helping us to raise awareness of autism, whilst raising funds.
Here are some examples of activities you could get involved in:
Once you have been involved in fundraising activities, you might decide you want to hold your own event. Whether it’s a cake sale, bingo night or sponsored walk, the Trustees will be happy to guide you, just contact us with your idea.
